Farmers market dog food review

Farmers Market is another dog food from The Real Petfood Company, which made the Ivory Coat dog food that several breeders reported as poisonous to their dogs. Nonetheless, is this product any different to the others from the brand?

Well, for one thing, it is grain-free and has a proper proportion of protein gotten from vegetables and meat. And it comes in various flavours to suit all tastes: beef and potato, sweet chicken, lamb stew, and many more.

Besides being healthy, it provides your dog with the optimum nourishment while making it drop every other food it tastes.

Farmers Market dog food is a delicious, nutritious, and healthy alternative made with all-natural ingredients, without artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. The added vitamins and minerals make it a complete and balanced food that provides your dog with all the nutrition it needs and nothing it doesn’t.

From the various flavours of Farmers market dog food available, our point of interest here is drawn to the Farmers Market Beef and Farm Vegetables Dry Dog Food flavour.

In the first place, dehydrated lamb and chicken meals are protein sources. Further, in composition, there is still poultry fat and dehydrated chicken liver; there are no more protein-rich ingredients. Given this, we can conclude that almost all of the protein indicated in the analysis is of animal origin (it is better absorbed than vegetable protein).

Unlike other products, it offers the appropriate proportion of protein needed by our dogs. And to achieve this percentage of protein, the dry lamb ingredient must consist primarily of meat or good organ meats to earn this percentage of protein. So the company deserves the accolades for putting the effort to make that possible.

Furthermore, this protein concentration is suitable for your dog’s muscle and boosts its overall immune system. Poultry fat is a source of fats and fatty acids containing Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids to help maintain healthy skin and coat, making your dog look more shiny and sharp.

Wheat bran is mainly a source of carbohydrates but is also rich in protein and potassium. This also serves as a good source of calcium and phosphorus for a dog’s solid teeth and bones. Other sources of carbohydrates are oats, peas, and many more. However carrots and peas are nutritious vegetables, but peas do not stop their addiction there; they are also a good source of protein and fibre.

The fibre sources in this flavour include parsley, whole Linseed (source of Omega 3 & 6), kelp meal, and garlic, adding to the source of protein with additional Inulin. This prebiotic fibre promotes digestive health, helping dogs with known issues related to gastrointestinal.

No artificial preservatives are used with Yucca Extract, which helps regulate the unnecessary smell. The following are what we like about the product as well as what we do not like.

What we like:

  • High protein concentration, even more than average;
  • Barn-raised protein
  • Decent amount of meat

What we don’t like:

  • It uses wheat which is an allergen for some dogs.
